Fibre Optic Broadband

You may have read or heard recently that the village now had fibre optic broadband and whilst this might be the case for some of the village I’m afraid it isn’t for all of us.

You may also know that a new BT cabinet was installed on the main road through the village, at the top of Bull Close, this is the connection point that some of our houses now connect to rather than directly to the exchange at the top of the road (Honingham/Barnham Broom Cross Roads).

For those lucky enough to connect to this new cabinet means you’ll most likely be able to order super fast fibre optic broadband, for others you’ll have to make do with the standard ADSL connection which to be fair (in my case at least) is plenty good enough for streaming TV shows, films and music.

You can check to see if you can get fibre optic broadband by visiting the Openreach website (link). Some will say ‘Pending – EO Line’. This means from what I’ve found out, is that you are still connected directly to the exchange and need to be connected to a cabinet. What I haven’t been able to find out is whether this means another cabinet will be installed or if the current cabinet will be upgraded to increase its capacity.

The wait is on….
