Welborne Arts Festival 2015

This will be our eleventh festival. The meadow will be transformed for a week into a small arts village comprising marquees and the circus Big Top. There will be quality arts of all kinds, coupled with a sense of fun. There will be something for everyone to enjoy. Our theme is “Art meets Science” so, for the first time, we are including science based events.

Events include:

•       The West Runton mammoth
•       Circus Ferrel
•       Art exhibitions
•       An Arts Lab by local children based on “Evolution of the Earth”
•       Dr Ken science show
•       Norwich Puppet Theatre
•       Street/meadow performers
•       Our Patron, the author Louis de Bernières
•       Artist in residence – David Ord Kerr
•       Carolyn Ash painted mosaics
•       A pre-Edinburgh Festival production about Marie Curie
•       Short specially written plays by award winning writers
•       Music
•       Arts activities for adults and children
•       Refreshments including home made cakes, coffee and sandwiches, pizzas (and the chance to  make your own pizza), ice cream and a licensed bar
•       And much, much more

All the events above are included in the entrance price

Adults: £8 (or £6 in advance)
Children 5-16: £2
Under 5s: free

The separate festival ceilidh in the Big Top is at 7.30 pm on Saturday 13 June. Entrance £8.

Get involved in the festival!

We always need lots of volunteers to help at our fantastic festival and there are many ways in which you can contribute. If you’ve not got involved before, this is your chance to be part of it!
As a ‘thank you’ from us, all volunteers will be invited to the opening event and will also get free entry to the Saturday or Sunday daytime festival.

Help setting up in the week before the festival
The organisers need people who can help in the week before the festival. If you will be around and able to help on Tuesday 9 June, Wednesday 10, Thursday 11 and Friday 12, please contact Margaret (850492) or Mike (850327).

Cakes

The Village Tearoom will be open for business at the Festival.  We have always provided lots of lovely home made cakes kindly donated by many people in the village. If you are willing to provide a cake this year Anne Wood (850405) or Sue Lishman (858351) would be pleased to hear from you.

Bric a brac stall in Dereham on April 25th

Donations of good quality bric a brac and clothes please. Also if anyone would like to help for an hour or two to get in touch with Margaret on 850492.

Donate material for creating a permanent village artwork for the village hall

We need fabric oddments to cut up and use for a rag rug wall hanging which will be made during the arts festival weekend. ” Country colours ” would be good. Please contact Sue Lishman 858351
